Awkward Moments are London-based electronica duo comprising of Mimi Xu – producer and electronic composer, and MAGUIRE – multi instrumentalist and lead vocalist. They represent the best in contemporary and immersive performative art. Their new live show ‘A Strange Time’ travels inward to the dark recesses of the psyche and out again to the dance floor in a playful interplay between introspection and connection. This tug of war between the personal and the collective is brought to life in an explosive spectacle that uses mixed media to at once ground and disorient; echoing the diverse states of our internal landscapes that constantly oscillate between darkness and light. 'An Entropic Night' is a live visual mixtape by Awkward Moments in collaboration with London based digital artist Mary Gouldsbrough. Producer, composer and DJ Mimi Xu teams up with classically trained multi-instrumentalist MAGUIRE. Awkward Moments, a conceptual AV project was born in 2017, and was heavily inspired by Expanded Cinema – an approach to multimedia performances that rejects the traditional one-way relationship between the audience and screen. With sound at its core, Awkward Moments is conceived as a performance art series that uses mixed media to explore the emotional, philosophical and metaphysical implications of a biological lifecycle and its eternal recurrence.
